If you’ve been to both areas, which would you recommend to someone who’s been to neither? My paddles have seen numerous trips in the border region as well as points much farther north. As you gather you thoughts for a reply think of the following: ease of communicating with reliable local knowledge, ease of access to entry waters and exit points, remoteness and the likelihood of seeing few if any other folks given the fact that each area has float planes and fish camps, and cost. After all the time I have spent in WCPP it is hard saying not to go there. Most of the park has burned up the last few years and this does not bother some paddlers but be aware of what you are getting into. Plenty of videos and recent videos to show what it is like now. It is also really hard to keep the port ages clear in all that burn.

If you want to check out the WCPP area check with Goldseekers as they know what areas of the park will suit you and also have options just north of the park. I still want to get back to Walking Stick Lake for a fly in -fly out canoe trip. A great lake that is never visited because no park routes pass through there. I have been there several times and there is a great 5+ camp near the south end. I have info on portages to nearby lakes.

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas. Given the extensive fires of recent years it seems wise to hold off on a WCPP trip for a season or two.
I was surprised to read that more people were see in WCPP than Wab. Without asking others I wouldn’t have thought this to be true. Although I also know each trip is unique in terms of time of year, amount traveled within the park, route of trip, and unpredictable circumstances that come up, such as fires.
