If I purchase a permit to only go into Snowbank Restricted and stay overnight, can I purchase another permit that will allow me to keep on going into other locations and stay a couple more days?

My reasoning is time restrictions. Plan on going for three days and have the location picked out. There are none available for day one so I would get permit one for close proximity then permits open up to the other locations.

So you want to use two permits, one to enter on the day you want (EP lake only), then the second to move past the EP lake (Overnight Paddle), but with the same EP lake. Is that correct?

You would have to "leave" then "enter" again on the day your overnight paddle permit has a date for, and you would not be able to leave Snowbank until your second permit date. I don't think anyone is going to check to make sure you paddled over to the entry point then entered the boundary waters again, if that is what you were asking.

So if you pick up 2 permits on Monday: 1. For Overnight Paddle for Snowbank Only on Monday Entry and 2. An Overnight Paddle for Snowbank that allows you to continue past Snowbank on "Tuesday" entry. Is this your scenario? I don't see why you would have to exit and re-enter. Your Tuesday permit becomes active at mid-night between Monday/Tuesday. Both are overnight paddle so a campsite is expected for both. You have paid your fees (and then some.). Just make sure you stay on Snowbank your first night and don't continue on until the second permit is active.

I think you could get your unrestricted permit for Snowbank at 3 or 4pm the day before. In that scenario, you can enter Snowbank late that day and camp outside of the BWCA on the southern part of Snowbank. Then the next day you are free to paddle onward with your new permit. That could solve your issue.

It might not be what you envisioned, but it could work. Just a thought.

Unrelated question but one I am curious about. Do day permits expire at midnight so..... If I am doing a paddle on a day permit and paddle overnight, or at least past midnight (never stopping to camp) do I need an overnight paddle permit, one day use permit, or take out two day use permits in a row. I, and some folks I know, occasionally take long paddles that may go overnight or at least well into the darkness. To be honest I never see anyone else paddling at night but I know it is done. Wondering how the whole permit thing would work. Usually I get one day permit.
