Looking to rent a solo canoe next week on May 1 - any suggestions for outfitters renting that early in the season?

I would think that most outfitters are kind of open now, as they are restocking things now. I'll bet Sawbill on Sawbill Lake and Rockwood on Poplar Lake (Lizz & Meeds EP's) would be ready right now. Call first, and you should be good to go. Have a great time!

I would think many, if not all of them, would be up and running by then if you call ahead or email ahead , especially this year with the early ice out.
For one of my May 4 entries I rented a solo from Rockwood on the Gunflint Trail and for my other May 4 entry I rented a solo from Piragis in Ely. For that trip I also got a bunkhouse at VNO, but they didn’t carry the solo canoe I wanted to rent.

Any outfitter that also issues permits has to be open on or before May 1st.
