Thanks for the report, my wife and I were camped on Gaskin that same week. I remember that wind Monday night into Tuesday and we spent Tuesday morning/early afternoon reading in the hammock. At first we were bummed that our day trip plans were halted, but later on we were happy that we had that time to lounge in the hammock together. Isabella is a destination we are looking forward to for a future trip when we introduce our kids to the BWCA. Same as you, I like the idea of having rivers to explore in 2 different directions. After that hotel stay I bet you were even more anxious to get into the boundary waters (if that's possible) :)

Nice casual trip. We did Isabella two years ago with kids and it was perfect for a leisurely pace. I thought the Isabella river was lovely.

Nice report. Sounds like a nice mix of rest and activities.

You mentioned going to Rice Lake. Do you remember how long it took you? I'm hoping to make it from Isabella to Quadga for my second night next May (solo trip). Does that seem reasonable?

Thanks

you will have no problem reaching q lake day 2.
i was not paying attention to time but it was no more than 3 hours.i was fishing quite a bit, plus in the spring you may have more depth and current from isabella to bald eagle.

Thanks for sharing your trip!

In 2008 we started at Isabella Lake and headed west as far as Quadga. Our plan was Bald Eagle or beyond but even though that didn't happen we had a wonderful trip. We also had a campsite on the eastern side of the lake. We could hear the sound of running water just behind the site and had some beautiful sunset views. I would like to revisit the lake and head farther west on the Isabella River. We were there in early June and ran into few people.
