Hi sherpa81,
We have been to Crab Lake and loved it. I am sure you will not be disappointed. We did submit a trip report as well as rate a number of the campsites on the lake. How many of you are going and how many tent sites do you require would influence my rating if you are interested.
Enjoy,
Boppa

Boppa,
There are four of us going this year, two newbies, and two experienced guys. We are taking two tents this year, so I would need a site that could handle that, plus i would like something that is somewhat open..dont know if the sites on Crab are forgiving like that haha.

Here's pic of the northernmost site on Crab, just before you reach the portage to Little Crab. I think there's room for two tents. Not a whole lot of firewood around, though there's plenty to be found at canoe landings nearby. Handy kitchen campfire area.

sherpa81,
I would definitely have you consider site #312, it is private, nicely laid out and has some additional sites up beyond the firegrate that are quite nice.
Next, I would have you look at site #310, it has at least two good tent pads and a great view of most of the lake.
I agree with Krusty555 that site #309 is a good choice as it gives you quick access to explore Little Crab, Korb River and Lake along with Cummings Lake or Coxey Pond.

Sherpa- my brother and I entered Crab Lake a few years ago. WE camped a couple nights on Cummings, a night on Korb, and the final night on Crab lake on the campsite nearest the portage to Burntside. I enjoyed Korb Lake and the rivers around there. There's one campsite on Korb - excellent view from the elevated campsite, but quite a haul uphill to it. We couldn't find a good pad for the one tent we had. We took a tow across Burntside Lake. If you're planning on paddling across Burntside make sure you know where the new portage begins. The portage is long, but not too difficult otherwise with a good tread and gradual slopes. Here are some pics:
