I thought I'd post this here instead of the "Trip Report" heading as hikers are a different lot. I'll leave that to canoers.
Saturday staged the cars and stayed at the Swamp River campsite. The last camp on the Superior Hiking Trail and just across the road from the Border Route Trail.
I was with 4 other guys. We met through the Minneapolis/St Paul Backpackers Meet Up Group. I had day hiked with 1 guy before and worked a trail clearing crew with another. The other 2 I had never met before.
Sunday we started the trek.
First overlook

We stayed Sunday night at McFarland Lake. Next night was at Gogebic Lake. A beautiful lake which you may never see unless you hike this trail.
The trip to Rose was scenic with many overlooks.
On to Rose Lake
We had covered 35+ miles the first 3 days and it was taxing on the older guys. So we split, the 2 stallions went on and 3 went to Daniels Lake for a more leisurely hike.
We left the BW at Clearwater and met the other 2 later. We caught a shuttle to Gunflint Lodge and finished the last 6 1/2 miles with the stallions.
Dog tired

Wow, that looked like it was a great time. Looks like the trees are about two weeks behind the trees down here in the Cities. And were all your campsites on the edges of lakes?

Thanks for the report!

We called Gunflint Lodge and they sent down a vehicle.
