The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep - Robert Frost

Nice report. I especially like your last heading: Inability to Detach from the Modern World.
Solution: Don't bring the Blackberry! Also, go on a longer trip (like 10 days) with more portages that get you deeper into the wilderness. It's hard to get absorbed in the place if it doesn't absorb you first.
Looking forward to the pictures.

We didn't bring the Blackberry. It's just a habit.....If you have a question, look it up on your phone. I, like most people, am a creature of habit.
I have gone on longer trips and shorter trips, but this is the first trip I wasn't able to leave the "rat race" behind. It may have to do with my current situation (just graduated and got my career job).
Fishguts, to clarify, a spinner to me is a Lindy Rig. We tried Rapalas, jigs with twisters, swimbaits, and everything else in the box. We had great luck trolling till we found them. Once we found them, we would either keep passing the same spot, or we would anchor and cast out the spinners.
Hope to get the pictures up this week.

We took the site in the narrows on the Northeast arm. It was a 5 star in my opinion...nice flat tent pad and an awesome view from camp. The only drawback was the proximity of canoes passing through the narrows.

I forgot to mention the turtle...oh lord, the turtle. The first evening at camp, we were throwing some spooks and jigs across the narrows and heard a wheezing noise. I looked down and litteraly jumped 10 feet in the air. At the base of my feet sat the LARGEST snapper I have ever seen. It's shell, no lie, was the size of a manhole cover. It had followed my nalgene of leeches from the depths and was not happy. He was a frequent visitor to our camp, stealing Walleyes.

Great trip there, gentlemen! And I use that term loosely..... ;)
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

We had the same site in the northeast narrows and had the same turtle at camp every day looking for a free meal on the stringer. It is truly a monster. we went in early June and only had one other group come thorugh the narrows in 5 days so we had the place pretty much to ourselves but I can definitely see how any type of traffic within 30 feet of camp would get annoying. Great site, though. I'm glad you had fun!
