Since Minnesota's duck season opens so late, most of the teal and wood ducks are usually gone or almost gone by the time the season begins. Im sure you could get some geese, mallards and diving ducks though, they tend to take off later in the season.
Anyone have good info as to when certain species migrate through the bwca?

Supposed the MN DNR is thinking about opening the Duck season ealier for that reasone. I don't know when this would start happening, but I would imagine it will take awhile, judging by how fast goverment moves. This would make it much more feasable.

It will still be to late! The youth season is on the 10th, and all ofo the northern minnesota locals will either be further south or hiding in some out of the way pond that you can't get to. The only way that we can keep the ducks around for everyone to hunt is to get rid of the youth day, then allow hunters who take a youngster along to hunt till sunset the first 10 days. That way we are getting the kids out while keeping the ducks around. Also, the youth will be taking better shots because the older hunters will get on them if they are shooting to far. I have seen to many fathers/uncles/grandpa's just let the kids shoot and not teach.
