Does anyone have any information on joining a volunteer work crew in the BWCA--you know, clearing trails, checking campsites, whatever may be needed. I thought joining such a crew might be a great opportunity to take my eldest son up for a service trip this spring.

The MCC might be great for the young ones (I was once part of the WCC), but they won't let us mature types in.

He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone; He's a man who won't fit in.

The Boundary Waters Advisory Committee has opportunities on 10 trips in April- May that involve volunteering to maintain the Powwow Hiking Trail in the BWCAW in vicinity of Isabella. The trips range in duration from day to extended weekend, and are hiking, backpacking and/or canoeing. Here is a link to Meetup https://www.meetup.com/Friends-of-BWCA-Trails/events/ and if you like I can send you a calendar/table overview of the trips.
