I'm going to Seagull Lake in June. Which will be our base camp. Does anybody have any advice for catching Walleye in Alpine Lake.

I was there years ago. Didn't have much luck. Slip Bober and leach would work or trolling a crank. I think on the map posts there are a few areas marked for fish.

Welcome to site Newbster (and Tgruenke!) Your best chance of catching some walleye is to locate submerged reefs or rock piles adjacent to deeper water. Use either a leech or night crawler on a #4 hook with a single split shot 12 to 18 inches above the hook and fish it slowly on the bottom. Once you know what depth the fish are at, try a slip bobber set to that depth.

Here a link to the DNR Lake Finder where you can get an idea of each lakes fishery as well as a topo map of the lake bottom. Good Luck and Good Fishing.

Very nice walleye in Alpine, not really a numbers lake but very nice average size, Shad Raps and Leeches should do the trick . P.S. I fish this lake about once every 3 to 5 years and its always been decent.

If you haven't checked it out already? There are some spots marked on the bwca.com map of Alpine lake.

Smalltown, you catch any 'eyes at the bottom of the rapids? We hammered those rapids over Memorial Day a couple years back & didn't spook a single 'eye. Seemed like a great place, maybe we just hit it at the wrong day.
