Looking for advice/info on sleeping giant provincial park just north and east of Thunder Bay. Has anyone camped or stayed in the cabins?

Mocha, not positive but I think that's the place my in laws did not like at all. They drove all the way up there from St. Cloud, paid for a campsite, went the site and were very disappointed. They said it was more like a KOA campground with sites that were not private at all. Instead of setting up camp they decided to drive back to GM and then up the Gunflint to East Bearskin campground and set up in the middle of the night.

I will ask when I see them at Easter if it was in fact Sleeping Giant.

I've camped there twice. Both times right on the lake (not superior, but on one of the larger lakes on the pennisula). The sites are pretty open; but we had no one camping anywhere near us both times. Very quiet place (that might be because we were camping in May - before Canada's May long weekend). My wife and I are definitely planning on bringing the kids back there again when they get a little bigger. Lots of wildlife to see there. Ran into bear and moose while hiking on both trips. There are also backpacking campsites too if you really need to get away from it all. And a hike to the top of the sleeping giant via the 'Chimney Trail' is unforgettable (and quite dangerous too). I wouldn't dismiss the park just because of the open campground. There's so much to see and do in the park, you probably wouldn't spend much time in the campground anyway.
