I spent a few days in the park this past week. The weather was beautiful, and we had a great time. This is a small wilderness area, lightly used.
It can basically be broken into two distinct areas. The put in is on the north end of Big Island Lake, with a short portage at the south end of the lake. If you turn left, you go over another short portage into Town Line Lake. This is an easy beginners route.
If you turn to the right to explore other lakes in the park, you will be challenged by some pretty steep and more lengthy portages. Not family oriented or beginner friendly.
I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.
Nice area, went last September with my brother stayed 4 nights on big island lake (campsite near the portage to mid lake.) Would go again, no its not the BWCA or Quettico, great starter trip. Anthony
