Hi: Of the many times I have been in Ely I have never once stayed in a motel. Any recommendations for clean, quiet and affordable?
THANKS!

I stay at the Paddle Inn. It's nothing fancy, but it's clean and if you have a group they rooms to fit your group size.

What Rick said. Nice little motel. Clean and comfy.

Ely Motel (Budget Host) was clean and nice as well.

I would recommend the Adventure Inn. Right on the main street, decent room and the price is right. Plus the owner or manager seemed really conscientous and a good guy; service and character like that deserve to be rewarded.
As a bonus the cinnamon-sugar donut I had as we checked out was delicious!

CCO 25/person/night - exquisitely clean and simple - and a short walk to both ely steakhouse and sharry's custard

If you don't mind driving a little further and you are driving back via US 169/MN Hwy 53, you can check out the Fortune Bay Casino in Tower (about 40 mins from Ely) The next morning you are a little closer to home so it isn't out of your way.

Ely to Fortune Bay ~ Driving Directions

The room prices are a little higher and they have a decent All You Can Eat buffet for $7.77 and a hot tub for those sore muscles.

You can avoid the Casino if you like, I never set foot in it. Chrip Chirp to Ching Ching wasn't for me

We stayed last year and will again this year.

Note: AAA or AARP gets you 10% off the room rate

Ely Motel/Budget Host has always been good to us. The parking lot is pretty cramped, but the rooms are clean and we've never had any problem with noise.

Adventure Inn. We stay there every year and will again come June 24.

I agree on the CCO. Nice and cheap. Good location on the main drag in Ely.

I know you asked about hotels but there are some very good bunkhouses in and around Ely. We use Williams and Hall if we are headed in that direction. Private rooms, on the lake, friendly staff. Shared bathrooms.

I have stayed at the Motel Ely and the Canoe On Inn. Both had up to date clean rooms but the Canoe On Inn was less expensive with better parking.

Motel Ely is great for a budget. Adventure Inn is great if you have a tad more to spend and want slightly nicer.

I would also recommend the Adventure Inn. There is a great ice cream place just across the street.

We have always stayed at the Voyageur North Outfitters bunkhouses. They have rooms for any size groups, and you cannot beat their good service and summer hours.
