Didn't want to highjack the other thread so started a new one. How do you guys manage your tarp tie out line? I have tried several different ways and always seem to end up with a rats nest.

For the guylines? What line are you using? So far, the nite-ize with figure nine line doesn't seem to tangle. For the ridgeline, I've been cross wrapping around my thumb and little finger, again with a stiffer line, maybe a nite ize. I saw the method on you tube. No knots. On the other hand, the line that came with my Byer bug net was worthless after one use. Mason line is more tangly too.

I do what todd does...figure 8 little finger to thumb then just wrap it a few times and tuck the end. I use Zing-It, which is a little stiffer, but I have had knotsy problems, too.

For the side tie out line I use the stuff that came with my CCS tarp. I cut it in six pieces and also use the Nite-ize figure eight tighteners. I have never had a problem with the cord getting tangled. I use 550 para cord for the top ridgeline.

I use mil spec 550 paracord for side guy-lines and ridgeline.

To store I use the figure 8 (pinky to thumb) method described by toddhunter and jcavenaugh.

Same here. One thing I like about 550 cord is it holds a taught line hitch very well. I usually leave the four corner lines with the taught line tied up and ready to go and just bundle them up. Makes for a faster setup when it starts to rain. I always bring a bit of orange flagging tape to tie on in potential "trip zones" as well.

I do the same. My tie out lines stay on the tarp and I bundle them up and put a half hitch around each one. Works great for the most part and when tangles happen it's not a big deal. With the WB Superfly you don't use a ridgeline. There are rings on each end that you put tie outs on. Love my superfly!

Here's a video of a campsite on Robinson Lake in the Q and I gush over my tarp a little. Let me know if the video works cuz all I get is a black screen.

Superfly Tarp

"

I recently purchased a warbonnet superfly but haven't used it yet. I've been using a 12'x12' guide gear tarp from Sportsmans Guide and rigging it with a ridgeline.

I like the idea of the rings on the superfly and especially the doors on the end which make it like a suspended tent without a floor.

We still rig at least one group tarp using the ridgeline even though the tarps have loops at the ends of the ridges. I feel the ridgeline gives the tarp more stability.
