What are you going to in 2013 that is new or different? New hammock or other equipment? Different set up? For me, if I start to get antsy I may just DIY a hammock, fiddle with some mods for an UQ, buy some zing-it, practice making doors on the tarp, practice with baker's set up...

IBFLY gave me a good idea with using an old tent footprint for under my hammock. I an going to be updating my suspension over the winter. I will have new whoppie slings and tree straps for next years hang.

I'm going to try and afford a topquilt. I've been comparing warbonnet (where I got my hammock and UQ), JacksRBetter and HammockGear (Burrow). Leaning toward the Burrow at present.

Considering a new pad. Mine is wide and long and thick and oh so comfortable, but a big thing to pack and portage. Anyone know of a big and thick and long pad that folds up nicely? I have looked at big agnes and she is not wide enough. Current pad is 30" wide, I could manage with 27+.
I also plan to improve my ground pad so stepping out is on something bigger.

I hope to pull the trigger on a full-length winter UQ. I currently have a 3/4 length summer weight UQ that just does not work in the winter.

I also plan to ask Santa for a hammock sock. The Minnesota Frozen Butt Hang is on my bucket list.

I have been thinking about a top quilt for next year and if it's anything like last year I'm waiting to see how if cottage industry has any deal like some of them did last year on Black Friday.

As the winter goes on I have plans of messing around with some different options for pull outs on the Superfly.

Have you considered the ENO Hotspot? I used it with a blue ccf. Good coverage. Smushed down pretty good on the top of the pack.

Just to get my WBBB dialed in and to use it. Of course always shopping for things I have to have and don't know it yet.

Yes that always shopping part......It's fun and expensive thing. Just sold my 99 metro, the big 3 cylinder 1L. Only had 240,000 miles on it. The $$$ is trying to burn a hole in my pocket.

I have materials for an under quilt project and most of what I need for another hammock as well. I also want to make a tarp. Well see what I find time for.

Last year I did a hammock for the first time and used a pad. It was good enough to not go back to the tent, but this year I'm hoping to have an underquilt.

Really all I need is an underquilt but I'll have to see if the cash is there to swing one. It's not a high priority thing and just going on a trip itself is hard enough to pass by the wife.

It sounds like a lot of us are in the market for underquilts. Now we just need a fantastic sale.

How small do they pack down to? Same as hammock?

That depends on the size, warmth and type of insulation. A full size uq would be similar in size to a equivalent mummy bag.
