Took advantage of the CCS sale last month and bought a couple tarps. For some reason I bought two 10x10 tarps instead of one 10x10 and one 10x12 as I'd originally planned. There must have been some logic for it at the time but darned if I can remember what it was.

Anyway, one of these tarps will be for hammock duty and I'm wondering, since I haven't opened them yet, if I should get ahold of Dan and see if I can return one of the 10x10s for a 10x12.

Anyone use a 10' tarp over their hammock? Most seem to be using 12 footers. I suppose I should measure the tarps I'm currently using, an ENO Fastfly that seems a little skimpy coverage wise at the ends (partly because of the rainfly cut) and a Kielty Noah 9 which I've found to be too long on the diagonal at times (trees too close together).

Hammock is a WB Blackbird.

Tarp size is a preference thing. I use a 8X10 diagonally for years. I could keep all my gear under it and my hammock never got wet. I have a larger one now and I like it better.

I also had the ENO tarp and thought it was too small. I went with a CCS 10x12 tarp. I use the 12 foot on top and let 5 feet hang down on each side.

I use a 12' X 12' tarp over my WBBB and often wish I had a smaller, lighter tarp.

I use a 10x10 ccs over my blackbird and have no problems with it. I get about six inches if extra tarp on each end and plenty of side coverage.

10 ft will be fine.

I have a 10x10 and 10x14 CCS in 1.9. I orginaly bought the 10x10 for the hammock but ended up getting a Superfly with my Blackbird.

Was doing some surfing today and ran across this 8x10 if anyone is looking for another tarp.

8x10 1.1 sil tarp

Don't know about quality or how long the sale is on. May be better than the Gear Guide Tarp and the cost is pretty good and made in the USA.

10 x 10 is good to go. You should be able to cover under any circumstance with that size.
If you do experience problems, then one should look deeper into considering other factors, such as prevailing winds or fly angle.
