So I just got my superfly tarp with the WB Blackbird. On the set up video from the WB website, the tarp is strung up without a ridge line. They just take a relatively short length of rope to go from the O ring at the end of the tarp to the trees on each end. Is that the way most people do it. I would think hanging the tarp over a ridgeline and fastening the O rings at each end to the ridgeline with a prussig loop would be more stable. I dont have the experience to dispute what is on the WB website so I am curious how all u veteran "hangers" do it. thx

I've only ever used a continuos ridge line, made out of amsteel, with two prussik knots with mini s bikers attached. A knot bone on one end and a figure 9 on the other. It's worked well so far by I think I am going to start tying each end sepreate. The continuos line can be kind of a pain, and I fell like I could get a tighter tarp with individual tied ends.

Disclaimer- I've only strung ccs tarps but imagine the superfly won't be any different.

I don't use a ridgeline and it works just fine. Less line to deal with.

I do use a continuous ridgeline. Mine is made from CCS reflective cord. On one end I have a loop made and slip the other end through it and pull to the second tree. On this end I have a small figure 9 that I snug the ridgeline up. I run my tarp over the ridgeline.

I then have two prussic knots on the ridgeline that I attach the tarp to with two more small figure 9’s. Makes it easy to get the tarp centered the way that I want.

I do this as I like to hang things under the tarp to keep them off the ground and keep them dry. I think that I may make a gear hammock this year to put other things into.

I have been also thinking about giving this a try both these setups this year.

I use a continuous ridgeline.

Why is it that the word "superfly" makes me think of Bill Clinton and General Petraeus?
