I had already made plans to fish the Sutton River this season. Bought equipment, made travel plans , ordered maps for that region. and studied them for hours. The thought of a 70 mile float trip with no portages and 3 to 5 pound brook trout all day long seemed like the ultimate for a die hard canoe fisherman.I have been all over north America chasing trophy fish and been pretty successful at it, so the Sutton seemed like a good choice to continue my streak of good fishing success. But during all of this planning my thoughts kept going back to a trip that fell through last year to Zaphira. I then asked myself do I want go to the Sutton and catch 3- 5 pound brookies all day long, (which would be great) or go somewhere that will be a bitch to get to, with no guarantee of fish? Zaphira won out. Will it be full of 20 pound pike, 25 inch walleye, or 20 inch bass, or no fish at all? Were all going to find out in late June!!!!

Wallee,

Go for it! Please keep us posted as to your trip plans and the outcome. There are many readers on here that live vicariously through others' dream trips. I would love to see you do it.

I did a crazy bushwhack trip last year and have no regrets.

Tom

Wallee,

You've got guts man. I read your Badwater report so I bet you can do it.
I think you should get bushwhacking sponsors like Bush Beer.
This could be the parallel to a moon shot for rednecks.
Not sure June is the right month for it though. Maybe Backwoods Off would be the better sponsor. You own a garden center right. You sure you don't want to wait until Sept? Just sayin.

Have you been nipping the sauce?

I talked to some forest service people at the Atikokan office today. They were very helpful in my quest for info on this lake. Although there is hardly no information available at the present time, they are having someone look into the history of this area. They are going to contact me with whatever info they can find. One of the people no a women that hiked in about 10 years ago. She is going to talk to her and find out her route and what she encountered on her little walk. She did not take a canoe in with her. I am hoping to make contact with her myself also. These folks are going out of their way in helping me with obtaining as much info as I can. I think they are pretty intrigued about finding info on this area also. I will let you no what I find out.
