It is very good. The first half or so is the preparation for the escape. Here's some cool info about the book and how it came to be. The Backstory of The Sea Runners

I love this quote at the end of this page.

"John Berryman once wrote that a mark of modernity is that a person can now live his or her life without ever having the chance to know whether he or she is physically brave. Daily, these sea runners are whetted against that question."

Wow! Deal. I'd love to reread my copy but it's in a box somewhere in the shed. Someday. Actually, this story would make a compelling movie.

Just finished it. Great read! He brings together personal interactions with historical significance and accurate geographical names. Hard to put down. Makes me want to read more of his stuff.

House of Sky is excellent and maybe one of his first novels. Glad you liked the Sea runners. I envisioned that being made into a movie or mini series but probably not gonna ever happen.

Being based on a true account i've wondered what that real deal for those men was like. And what became of them, what was their future? Would make a fascinating mini series.

I want to bump this one up in homage of BeaV's trip "UP, Through, and Around Alaska" trip. Ivan Doig is one heck of an author and this one is captivating.
