About a week ago I was awake at 3 AM and heard a Great Horned Owl for about 30 minutes.

I would absolutely love to see one here in Washington and have heard they can be found a few miles away from me but have only seen barred owls out here.

I hear them almost every night behind my house. I do not want to hijack the post, but here is an interesting photo. The image isn;t that great, but it was actually taken at 9:30 at night so I had really bad lighting, a very long exposure and nothing to focus on. It is amazing how well it blended in with the dead oak tree. Moments later it grabbed a red grey squirrel and flew away to feast!


Here is a picture from my cell phone. I knew that branch looked funny!
