Thinking about doing a second trip late this year to raven lake. What do you think is the fastest way to get there? Planning on maybe a four or five day total trip.

We camped on Fraser last year and did a day trip to Raven. Its a decent day to Fraser and a good 2 more hours to Raven. I think it would be very hard to make in one day from snowbank.

Came in from Kawishiwi lake and also Snowbank lake entry points.

I don't know if total time was much difference, but it sure seemed it was a heck of a lot more portaging coming in from Kawishiwi lake. I know I was more worn out that way.

To stay on Raven you suppose to have a primitive area camping permit for that area.
The lake is getting to be more popular in recent years. Early 90's we never seen anybody.

We came in from ensign, its a full day to fraser. A couple of hours to Raven. Lots of lakers in raven. The old campsite on raven burned, it was on the north side. Pretty little lake. I've been there twice but never camped there. I have some videos of the lake and portages on my you tube channel.

Been in there for an overnight on a couple trips. Don't know the quickest entry point, as we were putting it on a longer loop route from Sawbill, etc. Camped just east of the portage on big rock ledge near white pine, something we would never do in regular BWCA spots, but only 2 guys and LNT style. Have paddled most of the lake looking for other camp spots and figured that rock ledge was less trace than brushing a camp somewhere else. As McSweem said, old campsite to north in lake was burned; we camped there before it was burned, but not sure how that would be, now. It is a pretty lake and off the beaten track, though I shouldn't be saying...

I went in from EP 37. Malberg on night 1, Adams on night 2, and Raven on night 3. That route was not a back breaker, but the weather we had made it more difficult. The portage from Boulder to Cap is no joke either.

Did that same route about 20 years ago with a old heavy weight canoe. We did the whole thing in less than a day,but we were really dragging at the end.

We could of skipped Adams, but part of our trip planning was that lake. I still haven't measured the rods from Boulder to Cap, but it is a few with some elevation. To do that near the end of the day....yuck.

Fastest is Snowbank to Disappointment to Raven. We always took a full day to get there. I'd say about 8-9 hours with a nice lunch break.

Does anyone recall how difficult it is to get from Roe to Raven? The online map I'm looking at shows what looks like a navigable stream, but it appears to peter out about 40 rods south of the marked 15 rod portage into Raven. Thanks.

I'd say first portage out of Roe around a beaver dam is 15ish rods? Entry at end of the first portage was a bit slick n steep, u maintained and might have been due to high water I dunno.

Second portage looks like it could have been a real mud slog at the creek side, but water was high when we were there so it was more of a rock n hummock jump.

It's a nice lake and its to bad the old campsite had suffered some burn damage. We made due with a random spot on the north shore due to a high 40's wind and rain out of the north causing the usual spot right at portage to really suck. Figured no one had been there, but we found a Milky Way wrapper under a rock...sheesh.
