There have got to be some techniques here for hanging between 2 trees too far apart.

My 'yard' really does have 2 trees, just that they are more than 30 feet apart... Considerably more. Wondering if I can make it work so I can spend some time testing my hammock.

Also, I've heard not to do it, but I still think I should be able to hang from my garage door track. Keeping the door open would minimize or eliminate the sideways force on the supports, but it would add weight.

This would be cheaper than bending your garage door track. It would also allow you to use your hammock outside. Or this.

screw some heavy duty eye hooks into the 2x4 uprights of your garage walls, works for me.

+1

Garage and both of my kids bedrooms. 3/8" eye bolts are plenty strong.

Tough to describe this solution without drawings or pictures, but I'll try.

Saw recently where a person hung between two trees about 25 feet apart. He hung the hammock about three feet from the first tree and ran a line to the second tree, about 25 feet away. Then he located a downed branch about 6 feet long with a "Y" at one end. He stuck this "Y" about where the second tree would normally be.

The stick with the "Y" acted just like a second tree as far as the hang was concerned.

I've had to do this a few times, it works pretty well.

Use one of the trees.
Just get an 8 foot 4 X 4 and, using a post hole digger, set it about 2 1/2 feet in the ground.
When you're done with it, just pull it out.
Or, use two 4 X 4s and put them anywhere in your yard you want.

you can always purchase "python straps" or similar products, they are just extra tree straps. I just used mine last week I hung between 2 trees that were 40 feet apart.

Did you add these python straps to your existing straps somehow?

I have been wondering how to extend the straps that came with my Warbonnet BB for trees that are further apart and am wondering if these python straps would do the trick.

You can certainly use trees 30' apart - it's important then how high you set the anchor points.

Derek suggests 10' up in the hammock calculator

It's easier to measure things at home, and it's best to do so - when you're not fighting everything else, you can get a solid hang you can count on.

Otherwise, I would echo the others - I don't have any trees in the back yard, and I put up the eye bolts in the garage. My garage was 22' wide, so the calculator said to put the bolts at 7½'. Again, use the calculator to get a solid 30° hang (the point where forces equalize, and keeps strain off all components.
