I know this is a tall order, but I am hoping someone can provide me with all the panel pieces of a warbonnet blackbird or bb xlc model so that I can replicate one on my sewing machine.

All of the online patterns I have found don't cut it. I put what I thought was a decent replica together and it failed miserably. Not my sewing but the pattern.

Can anyone take the time to measure each piece and if not, is there anyone willing to let me "look" at theirs for a week or so with paid shipping x2?

I have spent a lot on fabric for a couple of hammocks and flys, and now Im left with no decent design!

:)

You could borrow my Warbonnet BB but I am leaving for the BWCA Wednesday night and won't be back for a week. Can you wait that long? I would need it back by the last week of August as we have another trip planned.

Email me and we can chat about logistics if you like.

That is a very generous offer Luft. I think I may take you up on this offer. I will email you soon to discuss. Thank you.

Sounds good. I will keep an eye out for the email. I will be back in town a week from Friday. So feasibly could mail the WBBB as soon as a week from Saturday.

The other option you can do. is simply email Brandon from warbonnet and ask him for some tips and possibly the measurements. he is very helpful and usually helps with builds.

I thought about this but he has patents pending on his design and I figured he wouldn't want to give that information up freely. He has built some incredibly nice hammocks and he deserves to keep that as profit and his. I just would like to get close as a DIY project and would never try to profit from his work but I'm sure he would be nervous that I would try to profit.

Hammock Forums is what got me into this mess. The pattern you linked did'nt work quite right so another member modified it with curves and updated measurements and this is the pattern I used for the beta project.

It ended up as a disaster. The whole hammock was too deep, the shelf was out of reach, and the footbox was horribly done where it basically served as extra fabric too high and too small out of reach of your feet.

Bottom line? No one has a decent mock up design yet but with measurements I am hoping to change that.

I gotcha, I've got both Blackbird models, I'll try measure them tonight after work and see. shoot me a list of measurements your looking for and I'll see what I can do. L, W, H, D, Shelf height. ect...

What I'm really looking for is the backside / footbox side. I know the bottom is rectangular (at least I hope it is so I'm close), the mesh on the zipper side is rectangular until you get up to the tie downs. I think this side is good although the shelf and opposite tie down side seem a bit high.

The side with the footbox and how it connects to the bottom is my biggest issue. Unfortunately to get these measurements right, I think I might need to see one and pull out the tape myself to make sure my bottom is the correct size etc.

Sent my WBBB off to you today. Should arrive in a day or so. Check your email.

I got it today Ann .. thank you so much! I sent you an email but I'll respond here. I was in the ballpark for measurements but WAY off on the footbox side and re-enforcement section. I also think the bottom was a bit too wide but this is all off first glance of seeing it hanging without a measure.

Brandon from warbonnet sure does have a nice design with this one. I can see now that this will work out much better for me.

Just a side note, Brandon does wonderful work and I'm impressed with this thing right down to each stitch. If you are looking for a hammock you can't go wrong with his craftsmanship. Send him some business if you're not into making one yourself.

I'm going to hang it this weekend and get the measuring tape out. For copyright reasons, I will not be publishing the measurements here but if you email me, I can probably help any DIY'ers out. Just keep in mind, I am still working on my first go around with this so its going to be off I'm sure.

I think I got what I needed Ann. Thank you SO much for trusting in me and giving me the opportunity to take a peak.

I have it packaged up and it will be in the mail as soon as I can get to the post office tomorrow.

Wonderful! Thanks again!

You are welcome and kudos for not publishing the dimensions.

I am in love with my Warbonnet BB and Brandon's work is stellar! Not being a DIYer I was more than happy to let him do the sewing for me. He has a strong following for a reason.

I will keep my eye on the mail box...

I know this thread is old but believe it or not I still get the occasional email asking me for the dimensions. I wanted to update this thread and say I gave up on the DIY although I still think it could work with more time. I ended up buying a BB and a BBXLC from Warbonnet and couldn't be happier. My wife and I love them and I never could have done this kind of quality work myself.
