Certainly the biggest issue with the weight limit on the Cub is the suspension. I assume that you'd be moving up in strap width anyway (the 1" would be a bit small IMHO). I think the main hammock body would take quite a bit more weight.
However, I think an issue might be the symmetrical cut of the body. I've tried having my son angle-lay in the hammock, but he always moves into the center. My gut feel is that the hammock pushes him that direction anyway - maybe it's a design trait to keep the little ones from flopping into the sides. For a 10-year-old, it's OK to be bent a little. For an adult, I'm not so sure.
There's also a pretty big size difference too, which may be an impact - I would estimate that the hammock would be a tight fit for someone over 55"-60".
What I did is buy a cheaper
Byers Moskito, knowing that it'll stretch a lot, but fit better. You still need straps, and I found the best straps at
Strapworks, where I could get them in the lengths I need for some of the BWCA pines.
Not that I have convinced my wife to get out of the tent yet either...
