I need a new pair of hiking shoes - we are going to do another 50 miles on the Superior Hiking Trail this fall and my old ones have had it. I currently have a pair of Salomons, but they never fit right.
Any suggestions on Brand?

Lowa Renegade Lows w/ Goretex liner. I've had 3 pairs and am just about to purchase a 4th. Their support is outstanding for day hikes and more than adequate for backpacking with 20-40 lbs loads. Nice stable foot bed, decent toe protection and deep lugs that grip well on rock whether wet or dry. I like the fact that the outsole easily accepts a low gaiter with a wide instep strap. Two cautionary notes: these shoes are spendy and they run narrow in my experience. I'm 6'3" and 245 and generally wear size 12 shoes. However, 13-wides in this shoe worn with a light weight wool hiking sock [no liner sock] work well for me. Try on several pairs to get a good fit as fit seems to very even within a designated size. REI has been a good place for finding a good fit.
Anything Keen makes is good....IMHO. My Merrells were poor quality...the wrap over toe tab peeled almost right away and the sole didn't hold up to the Kek. I have a hiking buddy that likes the Lowa brand. EDIT: I meant "Asolo" not Lowa.
I'm just here to give my opinion...If you don't like it, ignore it.
everyone in my family swears by asolo. mine pair is 10 yrs old. we just got back from the mountains, i can hike all day and never notice my feet. they are easily my favorite piece of outdoor gear.
