Nice area and the lake trout should be shallow. In 2013 I had planned on a laker opener solo trip with lil sag being at the far reach of my loop. Late ice out killed the trip to lil sag, but I managed to hit tusc, crooked and gillis.

That would be only time of the year my dad would go up there. He camped at a site on the south west corner of the lake. He had cliff had ice still on because no sun ever shined on it and he said there had always ice there as long as he is up there before memorial day.
I will get all the rest I need when I am dead.

I'm not sure what route I am going to take yet. My Dad said there were two ways of getting in there. The short route and the long one. Short one included the killer Tuscarora portage. I'll probably go the long route.

I did my 2014 solo - a clockwise loop out of Sawbill this last August and had a great trip except with dealing with blow downs. The day that I went from Little Sag to Kelso was a work out doing double portage on the 1144 rods (3432 total) that day. Never saw another soul until I got to Zenith and campsite was taken.
Let me know if you if you have any questions.

We went through Little Sag last Sept on our trip from Kawishiwi lake to Sawbill Lake. You can some info on that option by reading my trip report and inspector 13's trip report. There are a few pictures in my trip report, but I have more on a website that I'll give you a link to if you want to see more. Little Sag was a beautiful lake and we laid over an extra night there.
