So I'm new to hammock camping and I was seeing how people stored there gear and home they made It accessible from their hammock. I was wondering how to keep it dry and off the ground.

Dry: Under the tarp, next to you.

Off the ground: For most stuff I don't. My backpack sits on the ground. If I'm in a spot where I think rain runoff is likely to flow underneath the tarp, I put the rain cover on the pack and then turn it upside down - cover on the ground, tarp above.

Accessible: Several approaches depending on what stuff you mean. My hammock has a small pocket along the side to hold a hat, cell phone, and flashlight. I can usually reach my pack from the hammock with some effort. If I'm bringing luxuries on a trip, one is a miniature "gear hammock" that slings underneath, for things like a water bottle and the next morning's clothes. You can also get various sorts of "peak bags" to hold items in the ends of the hammock, or clip or tie any old stuff sack to the suspension.

I carry a approx. 4'X4' (cut) 3 mil sheet of clear plastic that I use for a ground tarp under my hammock. I'll lay it out and weight the corners with stones then use it for my boots, pack etc. and also have someplace clean to put my feet while I change clothes usually while sitting off the side of the hammock.

I also take an old rain poncho (from the 1980's) to use over packs and firewood at night. The poncho doubles as a firewood collector too. Sometimes there's no good wood near camp so you can make shoreline runs for wood and lay the sticks on the poncho in the canoe. Easy to carry lots of wood that way and also not mess the bottom of the boat.

I carry a small piece of Tyvek to keep my feet clean, my pack sits on that at night under the tarp, close enough that I can reach it. I keep a water bottle and flashlight in the pocket of my hammock. The only thing I keep off the ground is if I hang my food bag. With the tyvek and rain cover on my pack nothing inside has ever gotten wet.

I also use a piece of Tyvek under my hammock.

I basecamp, therefore I take a chair like this in with me
, so at night my pack goes in the chair and the chair sits next to me in the hammock under the tarp. keeps my pack dry, keeps my chair dry.

I put things I want to stay dry in my pack in this sack, and then toss everything and anything in there once I'm at the campsite. It holds quite a bit.

I also use a 4x4 piece of plastic under my hammock. The pack and gear goes on that at night. I have a small chair that goes under the tarp and put things on that that Imay need during the night. The hammock has a storage area that holds a flash light, hat and gloves and other small things I may need.
