Anyone completed the John Muir Trail? I am planning on doing half in 2016 (can't take 3 weeks off work and cant hike any faster than that so it will be done in 2 separate trips). If you have, is there a good way to divide it into 2 trips?

I was reminded by my wife that I am 51 and that I would not be hiking alone. So I invited a buddy of mine to accompany me. With another friend contemplating it. I am guessing there will be 3 of us.

Do you have room for more people?
I am 50 and a experienced hiker. My wife and I have 2 weeks set aside this season for hiking the Wind River Range and the Teton Crest trail. Lots of trail time above 10,000 ft.
Just wondering.
Cheers

It will most likely just be the 3 of us. If we do decide to expand, I will definitely look you up.

Hey Scout64,
Just curious on how your trip planning for JMT is going? We are in early stages of planning a trip as well. We are hoping to do 100-120 miles of trail starting late August into September.
Just wondering

Hey, just saw this. Had a bit of a setback, spinal surgery. So, not sure if the JMT is in my plans for 2016.

Hey,
sorry to hear that. I wish you a speedy recovery.
We are 124 days out now and we changed our plans too. We now plan to hike the whole thing.
I should have some good insight for you when you get back on the trail and back to planning.
Good luck to you.
Cheers

That sounds painful! Are you mobile at all right now?
Are you local to the Twin Cities? Midwest Mountaineering as a seminar on the JMT tomorrow at 2:15pm... Might at least get some information for when you're feeling better.

Looks like I will have to live vicariously through you for this year. can't wait to hear about your trip. I should be able to make a few SHT trips this summer. Just did an overnight trip to Afton State park. I was pretty tired after just a few miles. Small steps...

Feeling much better, thank you. Getting stronger each day.
