I keep my feet slightly higher than head. Keeps from sliding.

Hold on to your wallet. The expensive part starts the day your new hammock arrives.

Our group have several of those model hammocks, some side zip, some bottom entry. We go with the Hex tarps. Other additions: Snake skins for hammocks and tarps, Python straps for rigging and Nest and INcubator underquilts.

thanks guys, set it up yesterday in the front yard and it was very easy. i put the snake skins on but when I went to take the hammock down i didn't roll it tight enough and the snake skins couldn't hold a little of it in the very center. oh well ill roll it next time. I also got the rain water collectors that clip onto the tarp. anyone ever use those? making my first bwca trip memorial day week so really looking forward to bringing the hammock up.

You know, I've looked at them plenty of times, and I think they'd just collect dust in my load out. I think they're small mouth bottle size, and I usually grab a Nalgene widemouth for my trips.

That said, they may weigh out your fly in decent rain, but I generally need to get up and tighten things down anyway.

Congrats on the new hammock and yes now the spendy part starts.

As far as collecting rain water, I would forget about it in the BW unless you like a pine tar taste in your water. Water is everywhere, so just get a Sawyer Squeeze or mini Squeeze and you are set. Just my two cents.

Any of you Hennessey guys out there...The stock rain fly for my Explorer Deluxe is just big enough for the hammock which I already knew going into it, but my question is about how you set it up for rainy weather. It seems to me that attaching it to the built-in ridge line in the hammock leaves it a bit more exposed than would be effective in heavy rain. Would you reccomend using a separate ridge line for just the rain fly? I may just upgrade to the hex fly to get that extra coverage but just wondering. Thanks!

I've got the Hennessy Ultralight Backpacker and I just wasn't comfortable using that little fly up in Quetico when the wind and rain comes along. The first thing I did was dump the stock fly that came with it and bought a used Warbonnet Superfly that I keep on a separate ridge line. I like the doors option because I know I'm covered in all kinds of weather. The hex fly is also a good option for a fly upgrade. If you haven't done so already, check out hammockforums.net. They've got some great information over there.
