The Angleworm Trail in the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area has called me now for quite some time. Got my ol' buddy Wander'nFool out for a casual walk around this "Prom Queen" of trails.
It is a 14 mile loop north of Ely, Minnesota.
You must get a permit to hike on this trail as it is in the BWCA. Wilderness. Quiet. No roads. No power lines.
We did three nights and this trail lends itself to slowing down and stopping a lot to take in the Glory. On a three night trip out daily miles were short as it is only 14 miles. We took time to truly enjoy the BWCA. Even got in some day naps in the hammock. Long days up there and we got lucky with very little mosquito and blackflies. Cool days and cooler nights.
Whooooooooooo Buddy))))))

One of my favorite trails. Beautiful trail and short enough for a day hike or an overnight. I never get tired of hiking it.

Great video. Thank you for sharing. Makes me want to get out and hike it again!

Shug, watched part 2, just as good as part 1. We were only days apart in our trip to the Angleworm, we came out Sunday June 14. While we were there. the water was running downing the trail from the amount of rain that had dropped.

Keep hiking buddy & happy trails

My mistake Shug, my son & I went in on the 5 of June and were planning to come out on Monday the 8. But we came out on Sunday

This was my 2nd trip on the Angleworm & my sons 1st

We are planning to do the Souix Hustler this fall, late Sept, hopefully right as the colors are turning. There will be 5 of us on that trip. We watched your Souix Hustler video you took last fall, so then we know were to get lost on the trail lol

The 5 of us have been humping for years. 3 of us use hammock & 2 of us use tents

Have you ever thought about doing the Isle Royal. If you do, email me, I have the maps for it

We did three nights as well. I solo hiked it last year in two nights, and wanted a little extra time with the daughter since it was her first trip. First time in a hammock for her as well, and she loved it. Going to go around solo again in late September, hopefully catch the fall colors.

I have the maps for Isle and always mull it. Will do someday after I knock out a few more trails.
Did you love Isle Royal? Is it secluded?

Fall will be nice. There were those hardwood patches. Funny....not many cedar trees up that way.
3 nights was perfect.

The IR was awesome, tons of skeeter, some of the cleanest water I have ever had. My next trip there will be a fall trip, just to catch the colors. I would suggest going up to Lake Louise, spectactular view.

Just remeber, its like the bwca, you need to set up an appointment for the boat ride (boat ride isnt cheap either).

I will be going back to do another section of the island, we did the ridge - 45 miles of humping

Nice vids. You may have just added another trip for me this year. We are planning to do 65 miles on the Superior Hiking Trail in September. Angleworm might be a good August trip to get us warmed up.

Scout, have you done much of the SHT

Only about 40 miles. My buddy and I plan to hike the entire trail. Unfortunately, work dictates that we do it one segment at at time.
