Just back from 10 days in the Duncan, Rose, Mountain, Caribou area. Skeeters were definately out, but not as bad as I expected. All my clothes were permethrin treated which made a huge difference. I noticed in certain areas there were a lot more, particularly around the falls and back near Pemmican. Although they were heavy in those areas, I could just watch them buzz a couple of inches from me but never land on me.

Typically they were more present in the dawn and dusk hours. Nothing unusual. Only saw a couple deer fly and saw no ticks.

I have to really praise the permethrin. I used almost no deet on the entire 10 day trip. Just a squirt on the brim of the hat from time to time.

No blackflies?
