Here is a new knife that I made using Tasmanian Blackwood - a new material for me.
A little smaller than my normal fare to make it easier for EDC (Every Day carry).





And I thought I might toss this in here as well.
Most folks probably do not understand where my knives come from or how they are made.
Below is a picture of the three main components of the knife above.
The block of handle material is a block of Tasmanian Blackwood that is chemically stabilized by 100% impregnation of a liquid acrylic polymer.
I shape my handles from blocks like these.
Laying next to it is a slice of W2 tool steel from a steel 'rod' that is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I forge the blade to its final shape from a piece exactly like this.
The longer bar is 1 1/8" in diameter, and I forge my finger guard out of this bar.
I make each of my components from raw materials.
Not a simple endeavor.
