A buddy and I are planning a 3 day on the BRT in the fall. He's looking at +10 mile days, the BRT guidebook implies that might be a stretch. Any thoughts on daily distance, sections? We have 2 vehicles, can do our own shuttle. Neither of us are flash packers, but we leave the kitchen sink at home.
Thanks in advance.

It does sound like a stretch. Weather will play a large roll in how far you actually make it in three days. Too many wet surfaces can equal lots of slips, pulled muscles or broken bones.

All depends on your physical condition and terrain. A good pace would be like 3 miles per hour and 2 mile per hour very easy unless the above mentioned kicks in.

If you met me you would reconsider the first statement...I am in no physical shape to do 15 miles a day on the Kek...my mental toughness though is unmatched. ;-)
I will say that those days are quickly vanishing behind me...with age comes a slowing of that willingness to push that hard for that long.

Appreciate the feedback. Our hiking "cred" is strong, but from trip reports I've read (limited to be certain) the navigation can be quite difficult on the trail. Did a volunteer vacation clearing miles of the Kek this spring, and did appreciate that segments had been overgrown ( difficult to navigate) following the blowdown, and the fire that followed. I'd read that sections of the BRT were similarity difficult.

Notice, hijack coming: What section did you clear? I am trying to schedule a fall Kek hike...looking for anyone interested to join. We are looking to send one group from the east and one from the west, to save on shuttle fees.

Went in with Matt Davis from the NCTA, we paddled in as far as seahorse lake, and worked west, had snow in the later half of the trip. Came out 1 day early, and went back in from the gunflint side. Davis could tell you more, as I recall, five trips were scheduled this year.
