The gel coat on my canoe took a beating recently when up in the BWCA. Looking for opinions on what should be fixed and what can be safely ignored.

Obviously, the last photo with the chunk of gelcoat missing is a problem that needs to be addressed. I was unsure if I should fill with gelcoat or something else. I also plan on putting some kind of skid plate on after the repair is done, maybe KeelEazy.

There are also a couple smaller chips or gouges that look like they expose the cloth underneath, I think those should get fixed too.

There are a couple places I'm not sure about, I think they're compression cracks from over tightening and not necessarily a problem, as the gel isn't loose at all.

I welcome all thoughts and suggestions.

Wenonah sells a scratch and gouge kit and a gel coat repair kit, available in matching colors.

Thanks Butthead. Looks like the scratch & gouge kit is the same as the West System "Fiberglass boat repair kit (105-K)." I can get that at a nearby West Marine for half the price and no hazmat shipping fee.

mirth, when/if ya do much sanding save the dust to mix with the resin, closer color match.
