I haven't seen anything on this beer here. My work has taken me to Milwaukee, which has given me a bunch of new beers that aren't available in MN.
Looks like they have a nice tour, and I picked up a 6 pack sampler, if anybody has tried any of these, what did you think?

Fixed Gear - American Red IPA
Fuel Cafe - Organic coffee stout
IPA - self explanatory
White - Organic Belgian White
Eastside Dark - Bavarian Dark Lager
Riverwest Stein - Amber Lager

I like their naming, not a lot of BS strange names

an update to the New Glarus sampler I bought
I liked Moon Man best - a session, nice smell
Two Women close behind - a lager
Spotted Cow next - an ale and probably their best known beer
Fat Squirrel I did not care for - too many types of malts and hops IMO gave it a strong but not particularly likeable taste

I remember enjoying Fixed Gear very much last summer at Brew Love, a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House in Mpls. Pretty sure Lakefront is available in our local muni. ??

I'll agree with your assessment of Moon Man and Two Women. Most folks who go all gaga over Spotted Cow give you quite the puzzled look when my favorite New Glarus beer -- Moon Man -- is mentioned.

I agree with Moon Man over Spotted Cow. Spotted Cow is fine but I don't get all the hype.

People may be surprised that at one time Coors was not a national beer and was highly desirable because you couldn't get it here in MN/WI. Guys would travel to CO for vacation and come back with a couple cases and sell at 2 or 3 times the cost. Since gas was only 35 cents a gallon, they could use the profits to pay for their gas for the trip.

Limiting supply creates demand. And with the TC and Chicago area being so close to WI, there are a lot of customers who are denied buying New Glarus locally who may have had it since the border is so close to them. IOW, there is a demand for something that is difficult to obtain. And things that are difficult to obtain are considered more valuable.

According to their website Lakefront is only available in WI & IL, but perhaps they aren't as Nazi about it as New Glarus , so perhaps their more popular beers are available in MN as a result.

Ohh man if you guys could have tasted Lakefront's Cream City Pale Ale before it was discontinued/replaced...

I was about to say that the likely reason it was replaced (if it was) was that it did not have a big enough following.
Now, after checking with RateBeer, I'm sure that was the reason. It was another middling beer (63 percentile) overall.
I'm not criticizing your taste buds, Exo. Taste is subjective. I have encountered several beers myself where I did not agree with the crowd. Either I liked something that the masses did not or I disliked something that the masses crowed about.

You were unlucky in that Cream City Pale Ale was discontinued because I have seen a lot of less appreciated beers kept in production. All I can say is that the market is sorting things out in an imperfect manner and that there is no perfect alternative to the market.

Edit: Checked Beeradvocate. That crowd liked Cream City better than RateBeer did. Again, taste is subjective.

I remember them classifying it as a pale ale. I always considered it strong and malty with a hop-based citrusy finish but not bitter like an IPA. So a strong pale ale, not really able to do a comparison with a big box beer, like Sierra Nevada pale ale.

The t seems to have replaced it (a big ??? Cuz I don't know) is Growing Power. It says pale ale on the bottle, but it's a session and fermented with a Belgian yeast strain. It's a very confused beer if you ask me...

But perhaps because Lakefront is my home brewery...I am biased...

If you get to Milwaukee on a Friday, hit up the brew tour and get a fish fry at Lakefront!!

my room in Milwaukee is only two blocks away from the brewery

but I think I'll pass on the "fish fry"

western WI fish fries have spoiled me, I expect a salad bar, ham, chicken, ribs, occasionally prime rib

a buffet really

after trying a number of Lakefront brews, I bought a new Glarus 12 pack sampler, Spotted Cow, Nakid, 2 Women, & Moon Man

I enjoyed the RiverWest, Fixed Gear & East Side, but as you can tell from another thread, I'm just not into flavored beer
just gimme a beer

Hmmm...check out Bavarian Inn for another good fish fry. Of course, I'm digging into my college days and things could have changed....
