My husband and I have been to the Boundary Waters several times. This year we are only able to do a three day trip. Looking for a good fishing, scenic, reasonably challenging, but not grueling route.
We like to move in the morning and set up by lunchtime or early afternoon. I’ve never been in at Brule. I’ve stayed away from it due to horror stories about high winds. Is it a place we should try? Any other thoughts? We've done Kawishiwi, Sawbill (Lady chain and Temperence loop), Seagull, Moose, Isabella, Farm...)

Not sure if it's available, but Mudro up to Gun then down Moosecamp River to Fourtown back out Mudro is a nice 3 day loop if you take your time.

Brule is a cool lake and there are some decent lakes to go to from it. I always hit the lake super early and seem to have luck with no wind at that time.

Poplar-Caribou-Horseshoe is an easy 3-day trip (you could extend into Gaskin or other nearby lakes - great fishing and wildlife viewing).
Snipe Lake loop (EP 50 - Cross Bay) is another nice 3-day trip.
Tuscarora is the outfitter we have used for both of these trips. Good luck & have fun!

I was going to say Baker... but you've done the Temperence Loop out of Sawbill.
The other suggestions are great.
Homer near Brule would be another good one. Bower Trout to Swan and back is fun. Skipper to Banadad and back gives you a very quiet area without too much work despite the initial 320 rod portage. My wife and I did Skipper to Banadad in early August one year and only saw one other group over 4 days. It took us around 3-4 hours to get to Banadad.

+1 Skipper to Banadad. Check the portage reviews here first. One portage has changed sides of the stream due to beaver activity.

I haven't been there in 20 years, but the Granite River worked well for a short trip. Dad and I had 3 days when we did it in '99 (the weekend before the blowdown). Put in on Gunflint Lake (permit for Magnetic), paddle down the Granite River, and if you're really short on time, you can arrange a pickup at Saganaga Falls. We had an aluminum canoe and chose to run a few of the smaller rapids. Just hope you don't have a north wind, we had a miserable time paddling into the wind, but did have plenty of time to admire the irises blooming on the river banks.
