Entering Missing Link on Monday! May 31 x 4 nights (shortened from 7 nights due to a wedding) We won't enter until the afternoon and have to exit early.....two guys single portaging. Tuscarora night 1. From there we had plans of exploring Tuscarora, Little Sag, Ogish, SAK, and exit Seagull but now with early exit and shorter trip we're curious how to best enjoy the trip. We don't mind long days but also enjoy fishing for all species. We've never been to the area. How would you enjoy (basically) 3 days starting from Tuscarora in that region? Still hustle the loop? Shorten to Little Sag and back? Perhaps shorter loop and exit back thru Bingshick to catch some Lakers on Paulson? Thanks for any suggestions!

That seems like a long trip in a short time to me. If I had 4 days I would spend them on Tuscarora, Crooked, and Gillis. You can move every night, but I would most likely spend at least 2 of the nights on Crooked if you can make it that far with a late start on day one. Day trip to Gillis and explore/fish Crooked for the first 2 days then move to Tuscarora on Day 3 and catch some trout. Day 4 would then be 2 portages to the EP and let you get home on time.

The problem with the longer trip is that you are passing through a lot of lakes that deserve a full day to enjoy them. Tuscarora, Little Sag, Ogish, Alpine and even Seagull are all great lakes that are good for more than a paddle through. If you were getting an early start on Day 1 and could push to Little Sag to spend 2 days there, then I might suggest doing that and then spend the 3rd night on Crooked or Tuscarora on the way out. This way, you avoid using a second EP and the hassle of bringing a second car or arranging a ride. Dealing with the second EP and rides is just going to waste time on what looks to be an already tight schedule on the first and last days.

Thanks! I like it. My brain knows to scale back but my heart was set on a longer journey to see that country! Cheers!

Little Sag is a beautiful lake, but a long day even single portaging. Tusc is a nice lake too. For another option to exit head through Snipe to Cross Bay, which is a short walk (1/2 mi. ?) from the Round Lake parking. You'll pass it on the way.

Exactly! Love the option of multiple species! Ogish was one of the main lakes we were planning a day or two layover. Still really want to get there! How long of a day you think Tusc to Ogish?

Did a very similar 4 night trip a few years ago in September. We entered at Missing Link and camped one night each on Tusc and Little Sag - two nights on Ogish. None of our travel days were particularly demanding and there was plenty of time to fish every evening and while travelling. I really like Little Sag and would like to spend more time there. Gabi is also a lake I would like to revisit and spend a night.

It looks to be 11-12 miles single portaging with about 2 miles of portage, but about 9 of them.

Night 1: Tuscarora
Night 2: Little Sag (one of my favorite lakes).
Night 3: Ogish

Spend your extra night on either Little Sag or Ogish. Beware Ogish campsites can fill up so have a back up plan. Exit Seagull as originally planned.

Or if you want round trip, go out as far as Little Sag and then loop back out through Brant.
