Quick question: I was successful in getting a permit last Wed., but none of the alternate leaders I identified have received an email to confirm their alternate leader status (as recreation.gov stated would happen). Will that happen closer to my trip or should I contact recreation.gov now?
I suggest 4 things to cover all the bases: 1. Ask your alternate tip leaders to check their junk email. 2. Log into your recreation.gov account and review the reservation to verify that their email addresses are correct. 3. Send a copy of the confirmation email(s) to your alternates. 4. Contact recreation.gov.
None of the guys in our group have ever acknowledged receiving an alternate leader email, yet upon arrival at our outfitter, they are listed as alternates/potential leaders and would have been allowed to pick up the permit. I wouldn't sweat it much.

As an alternate trip leader on trips on the past, I have never received any type of notification. Also as others have stated, when we arrived to pick up the permits I was listed there and have been allowed to pick up the permit in the leaders absence. You could certainly still do those things listed above for your own peace of mind.
