Camp Notes:
Beautiful spot with great views of the cliff, a not-so-friendly resident beaver and a good sized snapper that knows when the camp is occupied, because he's waiting for fish or fish scraps and he has zero fear of people. Great fishing in the narrows. Lots of smallies and a few walleye. Got caught in a mini-squall by the cliffs because you can't see the weather coming from the NW. Of my two trips on the Big Sag loop this is my favorite lake by far. Hanson to Cherry portage is my least favorite portage by far.

Beautiful, mostly flat campsite. Easy to unload canoes. Great fishing in the narrows near the campsite.

Nice site with great views. We selected this site over the other only because it was closer to the Portages out. We were heading to Lake of the Clouds for a late day trip, cut down paddle time. My buddy and I both agreed the other site was just as nice. It was elevated, this site was right on the water. And as you see the previously mentioned log on the left(reference 2008 comment)is still there. Probably can put 9 on this site if you use the wooded area in the inlet , but those would be buggy in the summer.

I had a great time at this sprawling site. It was, as they mentioned previously, well-used but you can't beat the view from camp. I hammock camped and found the best trees to be back towards the sandy landing in the channel. If you're there in September watch out for pack attack mice! They were numerous and not shy in the least.

This is one of my favorite camp sites. It is one of only two sites on Cherry Lake, and it is, without a doubt, the preferable of the two. The other site is on an extremely windy section of the lake, while this one is shielded. About the site itself, talk about having your own little paradise. There is water on two sides, with sheer rock rising out of the water up to the fire pit. The fire pit/dining area is wonderful, as you have a breathtaking view of the lake. You can also hike back to the cliff and safely scale the rock pile and up the face of the cliff a little ways. We spent two nights here, three days, my woman and I didn't see a single human being, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is a difficult journey to reach this site, if you come through Gijikiki, but it is so worth it once you are there.

Beautiful lake. Campsite is nice, yet a bit worn. The tree in the water on the left side was in the same position in 2002 (last time I was on Cherry). Love visiting this lake...

Very nice site. The best tent pads are away from the firegrate closer to the cliffs. Fantastic views.

A wonderful sprawling site. Two excellent tent pads away from the fire grate area. Nice grass and needle carpeted canoe landing just down shore from main camp. Beautiful scenery. The only negative: It probably gets used heavily as it does show some wear & tear.

Heck of a portage...but middle campsite is by far the best I've seen. Great views of cliffs...jumping them may not be the best idea...yet fun. Fishy was horrible; but the views were worth it.
