Camp Notes:
Plenty of tent sites and a wide open seating and fire grate area. The canoe landing is very muddy and rocky. We struggled to find a location to hang our food and the latrine was literally up a 20-foot cliff, an interesting placement. Easily hung two hammocks with space to hand more if we wanted.

Camp Notes:
I was here during a high water period and the landing was as good as it gets; a sheltered back side parking garage - although I expect that will change somewhat as the water recedes. Some really excellent tent pads (plenty of room for larger groups) and the majestic white pine standing guard near the tip of the point really give this one a nice feel. While the kitchen area is stellar it is rather tight and larger groups may find that they would be "bumping elbows" too frequently for optimal enjoyment. Still you could do a lot worse.

Camp Notes:
I wanted to find a campsite on the northwest side of Bald Eagle near Gabbro, but due to the weather we stopped here and made this site our base camp. Turned out to be a nice site with 3 good tent pads to choose from, good trees for hanging food, and not many bugs even though it was in the middle of August. The latrine is up a very steep slope, and the canoe landing is mucky. Did most of our fishing in the river and we had good luck catching smallies, northern, and walleye. Even caught one northern over 40 inches in the middle of the lake. The picture shows the lake and river from the campsite after 2 days of rain finally started to clear (picture facing southwest).

Stopped at this campsite because of the weather and found it to be a very good site. Excellent tent pads and good fire pit. The climb to the toilet is difficult and slippery in the rain. Lots of room for tents if you have a large group. Caught some fish in the river when it was windy on the lake.

Not a fantastic site, but nice after the 190 rod portage if it's getting late and you need a place to stay. Try fishing up and down this finger, Bass and Pike are abundant. Nice beach, but steep to get up to site.
