Camp Notes:
This site is just a gravel landing/swimming pad away from being perfect. The main tent pad had space for both our tents (6-person BigAgnes and 4-person Walrus) and was very level and clear of roots & rocks. A shallow rock slope shoreline made for a hassle-free load and unload, but entry and exit for swimming is pretty mucky. Watch out for the array of submerged rocks on the approach and departure, though they do make for fun "sunning spots" to swim out to (or walk to, as Hook Lake is pretty shallow). As others have said, there is a great mix of sun and shade at the site due to ample tree cover, and we found perfect spots to hang our 4m x 4m bugout screen room, laundry line, and hammock. The trees do block a lot of the sky for any would-be stargazers, but that's what midnight paddles are for. There is a large rock wall feature about 30m behind the campsite with a climbable face that rises maybe 10m high, pretty cool. We found plenty of firewood due to some deadfall and a recently dropped large tree between the tent pad and the latrine. The fire area had 2 decent log benches, with a third bench further back that we fit inside our screen room, which was awesome for meals and evening card games. We always bring an InReach for emergency communication but I had a single bar of cellular coverage that let me send text messages to family back home at arrival and departure, which was both convenient and disappointing. All things considered, this is a great campsite that will hold the 9-person group limit in comfort. The remoteness and limited entry from accessible points meant we saw just a single paddler in the 4 days we were there and passed only one couple on a portage on our way in (and they were just leaving the Hook Lake site we were hoping to get, fortune smiles). If allowed I would rate it 4.5 stars.

Plenty of reviews here that capture the beauty and amenities of this site. I grabbed my journal looking for some quotes to share that I wrote while at the site: "Gorgeous view down to the portage." "Awesome tent pad with other options" (we had one 4 person tent) "Big rock to sit on for sunrise coffee, drying clothes, etc." "Tall pines. Plenty of firewood." "Kitchen [fire grate] area with a view." We had a fair amount of rain. There is a high spot to string up a tarp and stay mostly dry if it's a super soaker. To the east there is a high, bald rock across from camp. We climbed up to the top of that - great view. Not much luck catching, but we did some fishing. Ample blueberries were found on Keneu Lake. We loved the solitude and barely saw anyone else while there for 4 nights.

We loved this campsite. Plenty of room, big rock outcropping.

This is a great campsite! We had high water and went right through the rocks mentioned in another comment here with no problems (thank goodness!). I can't think of anything negative about this campsite. A great spot. One really great, large tent pad, and others that will do, too. Good sunny spots, good shady spots, and good hammock trees, too. We found a perfect place to put our bear barrel: there's a big rock not too far from the campfire area that is a tad undercut; stuck them in there (just wide enough for our bear barrels, but probably not big enough for one of those blue barrels) and they were out of the sun the entire day and in a nice cool spot. Very quiet area; peaceful and relaxing.

I stayed in 3 of the 5 campsites in the Slim Lake chain. Of the 3, this was by far my favorite! It's very private, as it's the only campsite on the entire lake. For this size of lake, I'm quite surprised this doesn't have at least 1 more campsite. There is a rocky shoreline and one particular area of the rock makes an absolute perfect chair with backrest, so you can sit near the water and fish. I spent hours here just reading and fishing. The mornings were great as the water was quite calm and the sun coming up on my face was glorious! Caution! When coming into campsite, go AROUND the rocks in the water (100' out). There are hidden rocks just below the surface if you try to go in between them!

Great out of the way site and lake. Very nice view of small cliff to the east. Stayed here on a day drip from Slim.
