This is a great site. We caught numerous very large small mouth bass directly from camp using plain hooks with a worm on a bobber. Great views. Absolutely stunning.

Nice, open site with plenty of room. Whole site and surrounding has unfortunately been picked clean of any fire wood; fallen or not. Landing is rocky, 2 canoes maybe. High traffic, even in October, woke up to people and canoes scraping at 10 p.m. It is close to Stairway Falls and several beautiful lookouts on the Border Route Trail. Good site for a family or first timer, but I will not stay here again.

Fantastic site. A LOT of space for tents, great for swimming, nice fishing nearby (we had some luck for smallmouths where the falls enter the lake near dusk), very open, nice kitchen area, and a lot of beautiful old-growth trees. This is a great place for base-camping because there are so many places you can day trip to, and a lot of hiking trails nearby. Truly the only drawback (and reason for 4 stars and not 5) is the huge amount of traffic from staircase portage. You do not feel secluded at all, but it is almost worth it due to all of the other pros of this site. There is a little bit of a hike up to the camping area from the landing pad, but if you are portaging staircase portage I doubt you will mind it...

Great campsite. A bit of a hike up from the water, but a lot of open space. Sort of two levels - sleeping level and campfire level.

Negatives: lots of people and bugs. Postives: impressive scenery, being able to hear the falls at night, and the swimming was great because you could dive in right off of shore. An awkward bonus, my first son was most likely conceived here.

Nice site in a high rock-faced cove. This site has huge, towering pines and is close to the falls and Rose lake overlook. You may be disturbed by some traffic since it is so close to Stairway Portage (one person even played Jimi Hendrix from a boom box while on the portage!!!). A bit of a walk up to the grate from the water, landing is just "OK". Beautiful views--especially of the distant sawtooth hills at sunrise!
