This site was not as described here. I would give it an actual 2.5 stars First the good points. Great views, fairly breezy, eagles. loons, beavers and snapping turtles, sloping rock out front for landing the canoe and good fishing. Bad points. So many roots and rocks all over the site and there was not a level location anywhere. That made walking very unstable. The best place for our 4 man tent was right in front of the fire grate and it was covered with projecting rocks and roots. No good shade and the clouds of mosquitos and black flies were starving for human blood. Not my favorite camp site by a long shot.

Camp Notes:
Water was low this trip so the landing was very slippery and rather difficult unless you just wanted to jump in the water and not worry about getting wet. We had a very large tent and the only spot it would fit was on the backside of the large rock in the back of camp near the latrine trail. I could really only find one other tent pad that was decent enough to use for a small 2 to 4 person tent. As far as the camp layout it was sloped down towards the water mostly with a lot of roots and rocks all over. We were able to do a lot of swimming out front of the camp and fishing was above average from the shoreline for smallies. You could definitely catch enough for a meal or two every day from the shoreline. There was a moose and calf that came for an entire day and fed in the small bay beside this camp one day and weren't anymore than 50 to 75 yards away which was really neat. I would give this site a lower #4 rating but it was definitely higher than a 3. There was a lot of openness which allowed for a good breeze to keep the bugs and mosquitos at bay. Overall it was a good site and the better of the two we checked out on Red Rock.

This is a beautiful campsite and I can't urge you enough to try and stay here. I went with a group of 5 other guys and myself and it was so ideal I can't even explain it but I'll try... The landing for the canoes is great as it is a gradual incline so you can actually land the canoe without getting soaked. Once you get to the site you will notice the MASSIVE rock all throughout the front that is perfect for sunbathing, cooking, fishing, relaxing, and whatever else you want to do there. We did pretty well fishing off the shore of the campsite, catching a few northerns, smallies, and even a walleye. Up on top of the site is a very level grate with plenty of seating with an extraordinary view of Red Rock and the sunsets. Up a little further into the woods is a large flat area for tents and then further in there is another large area for tents. The latrine was decently close but still a bit of a hike. There was an eagles nest very close to us that was frequently fishing not more than 80 yards away from us, so that was awesome. I've been to a few dozen campsites and this is by far the best one of them all. Only problem we had with this site was there a black bear came into our camp the first day we were there but was very docile and left as soon as it realized we were there.

Outstanding site, probably best on the lake. Take this one first or if it's taken, get the one just north of the islands on the main lake.

This is an excellent campsite for large groups. There is a large, relatively flat, area for tents. The site is on a small point.
