I’m surprised to see how well this campsite has been rated. In my notes from the trip I pegged it as a 3 for a couple reasons. First, there is really no view of the lake from inside the campsite. That kinda sucks. Second, the main area has no shade to offer, which burned me up in sunny 80-degree weather. For what it’s worth, the photo I’m including is looking through the site toward the canoe landing. On another note, it’s not great for hammock folks like me. There wasn’t much in the way of suitable trees.

In my opinion, the best site on Horseshoe. A few solid tent pads, nice open hang out area, anda small rock that you can hangout or fish on. There’s a small cove that’s a nice sandy landing, but we ran into quite a few leeches there. Little luck shore fishing (just one pike, decent size) but nice spot for sunrise views. And the site was situated well to avoid the pesky western wind.

The Campsite was up on a hill at a point and surrounded by trees. Good privacy! It was well cleared, could fit many tents, and the kitchen was in great condition. good bear trees around and latrine was easy to find. Fire wood was sparse, and had to dig deep into the woods. There were also friendly chipmunks.

Camp Notes:
Open Camp, sheltered by trees, but still a decent lake view. 2-3 canoe landings, 1 is excellent and holds 2 canoes. Nice rock in front of campsite (sloping into water) to relax/fish on. Near Great Moose locations. Short walk to the Loo.

Good landing, open and airy, allows a lot of sun so would be great in cold/cool sunny days. Nice firegrate area and up and back so can choose to keep more private from groups passing by.

We had 3 tents and it accomodated us well. Nice, protected campsite. We could hear very occassional laughter from the campsite to the south, though.
