I'd say it's a 4 star campsite but the fact that it's on Boulder Lake makes it a 5er. Boulder lake has to be in my top 5 lakes in the BWCA. Nice and quiet since it's pretty far from any EP. The campsite has a great area to sit by the fire and a nice bit of rock to swim off of.

Great lake...but the campsites leave a lot to be desired. For all the work it takes to get here, there are better campsites to utilize.

FYI: If this site was on or near an EP I wouldn't rate it so high,as the fire grate is currently exposed but, there are a few small cedars that will (if left alone) eventually provide shelter. Hence the 5* rating. Nice very gently sloping rock slab landing. Site is somewhat elevated and provides a panoramic view to the east. Several premium well sheltered tent pads. Plenty of downed wood for future firewood.

this site also has one of the last stands of very old growth cedar trees, some areas of the island are dense, smells awesome! we were windbound so had time to explore, evidence of live tree cuts (presumably for firewood since it was laying by the firegrate). even though this site can hold 3 or 4 tents and plenty of people, it would be better to keep the camper numbers lower. would hate to see more live trees being cut.

Great site. Beavers and the Beymer book don't lie. Besides the various nice tent pads, there is a great rock point on the other side of the island to relax on and watch the sunset to the west. Great site.

I almost hate to post this but you have to bust your a#@ to get into Boulder these days. This site is HUGE with at least a half dozen tent pads. It also has a nice fire area and some great lounging rocks on the point infront of the camp.
