Portage Notes: Generally well maintained, but the dock is in need of repair. Watch for broken boards, sagging boards, etc. The last half of the dock is gone and flooded, so stay to one side. Mud was at least knee deep in the middle.

Portage Notes: Monument portage is a well-traveled, wide open portage with boundary markers along its path delineating the USA/Canadian border boundaries. There is a long wooden landing on the Swamp Lake side. There is some elevation changes heading down into Ottertrack Lake. It is a frequently traveled portage, so you may cross paths with other groups, but the path is plenty wide to accommodate passing groups.

Portage Notes: Monument Portage. It's not too bad. Well-traveled and wide for the most part. There's a wooden pier on the Swamp Lake side. Make sure you tie up your canoe and leave room for others.

Portage Notes: Not a bad portage, Steep climb coming out of Ottertrack. A few rocks but over all pretty decent. Fairly short and of course you have to get your picture taken at the monument.

Portage Notes: luckily it is a pretty easy portage. well taken care of and we didnt run into anyone while we used it. the markers are pretty neat and a great photo op! the dock at the end is a little tricky to set down in if ur whole group lands at the same time. but whatever u do, DO NOT STEP DOWN INTO THE WATER. my friend found this out the hard way!

Portage Notes: The "dock" on the Eastern end of the portage. STAY on the dock! Very marshy (thus the reason for the dock) My 12 year old son stepped off the dock and sunk up to his neck in the northwoods muck!

Portage Notes: A look at the staircase BigPaddle mentions; I am heading west down the hill toward Ottertrack Lake. Given its length and the elevation change, it was not too difficult, and there is a lot of space for larger groups to take a rest and not hinder other portagers (and one large group had several members doing just that). Only drawback is the route's popularity; there was quite a traffic jam in both directions at the dock on the East side.

Portage Notes: EASY, delightful Monument portage. West side has a relatively steep "staircase" going up towards the east. Landing on the East side is literally a dock. the U.S./canadian markers are neat to see.
