Portage Notes: Relatively steep start and finish, but otherwise general ups and downs in the middle. Certainly not as much of a rollercoaster as the Vera-Knife portage. There are some spectacular views coming from the Vera side. We encountered this portage in bone-dry conditions, so if it was or is raining, some of the rocky bits might be a bit slippery. Be sure to check for blueberries alongside the trail when you're crossing the exposed bits of shield. We got a few good handfuls on our trip.

Portage Notes: This isn't as bad as past reports. Yes it's got some hills, and rock but very passable. I even had cell service at the top and called my wife to say hi.

Portage Notes: Long and hard. Thought this can't be as bad as the Knife to Clear portage. It was as bad or worse. Rough, up & down, steep spots with no steps.

Portage Notes: Not an easy portage but I have been on worse. You are pretty much hauling your stuff over one giant rock on this trail. Awesome view from the top. Be warned on this one: on most portages when you spot the lake you are just about there. On this portage, if you are coming from Vera, when you spot Ensign, you will still have a tough down-hill distance to go.

Portage Notes: This one is quite the portage. Probably the toughest that I've traveled. Granted there was a group of boys traveling the opposite direction that were in way over their heads so we practically had to carry their equipment over for them! This is not a portage for beginners so beware!

Portage Notes: Tough portage, thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I pack a little heavy, and this portage will wish you didn't. Beautiful view on top though.

Entry Point: G - Moose Lake to Prairie Portage

Portage Notes: Portage has rough terrain, we were literally walking sideways on rocks at some points to get through. One of the toughest portages I've done, not to length, but to terrain.
