Portage Notes: This is a very tough portage, the toughest I've done. We went the Abinoji to Boot direction and I was very very happy we were not going the other way. If you're doing a loop I would recommend going east to west. The hill out of boot is very steep and sketchy footing... two guys in my group seriously considered letting the canoe slide the whole way down.

Portage Notes: First a quick note that there is also a short (2 rod) portage around a beaver dam at the narrows that lead to the back bay this portage is located on Boot. This is a very tough (for it's length) portage, especially coming from the Boot end, as there is a substantial climb for about 2/3 of the way. There is also a steep climb coming from Abinodji but, it is a significantly shorter length.

Portage Notes: Not a very long portage, but a beast. One of the few portages that I started off single portaging and had to drop the canoe and rest before finishing. That first uphill climb out of Boot heading East to Abinodji will get the heart pumping for sure.

Portage Notes: We did a day trip from Ensign through Ashigan around to Boot and back into Ensign. The portages were not bad until this one. My middle school students were wiped out after this portage. I was glad we were going west into Boot, and not the other way. This portage seemed much farther than it's listed length.

Portage Notes: Just reaffirming the other posters’ description of this beast. We came from the East into Boot. It was rocky, steep and long. There are a few trees good for canoe rests, my advice is to use them. If you’re going East out of Boot, prepare for a long day. This portage will wipe you out and you have several lakes to go before you reach a site (The single Abinodji site is very popular).

Portage Notes: This portage is hell, very steep, we were single portageing it and I got half way up and triped and fell, the canoe was on top of me and wedged between two trees, my 75lb pack was on top of me too, not to mention I just dug a trebel hook out of my thumb 30 min. before, I just laid there until my brotherinlaw rescued me, stay away from this portage if you can!!

Portage Notes: Unless your first name is Billy and your last name is Goat you should avoid this badboy. Coming from Boot, you begin with a 100 ft. (plus) climb, very rocky and steep. The other end is another steep, rocky drop, though not as long. Some more rocks, turns, ups n downs, and even some mud puddles in between. The worst 80 rod portage I've been on.
