Center pole pocket CCS Tundra Tarp

My pole has a spike. I'd rather not push that straight into the pocket. I used a rag, but it's sorta slapdash. Also, the pole diameter doesn't really lend itself to cinching down the pocket loops. Anyone have a better method?

One guy line from pole? Or more?

Is this sufficient? Do you use more guy lines per pole? If so, using what method of attachment?
