Day 1 of 3
Friday, March 12, 2010:

I was able to end my work day a little early so that I could head to Cambridge to meet Kendra for the beginning of our girl’s trip that was so talked about on the board. We had our map and compass out and ready to begin our paddle down to the metro. Packs, water and gear all in the “Grampa Car” and we were on our way by about 5:40pm. It was getting dark, was foggy and drizzly - we hoped that wasn’t a sign of what was to come. Being Copia Virgins we didn’t know what to expect.

We paddled about an hour and a half and finally arrived at BW (Banana Whacker) Outfitters where we were going to bunk for the night. In the morning Joe, the trusty, yellow Nissan Xterra was going to be our tow to our destination. Trix and Mr. Trix, owners of the outfitters, were the perfect host and hostess. He even entertained us by reading a resume that Trix had received. That made us realize how smart everyone on the board really is! There was a lot of bull skat going on in the kitchen that night - I think us three girls scared him away - he went to his man cave to meditate and nurse his drink. Mr. Trix is a great guy and Trix is lucky to have him! After a while, Kendra thought she saw a black bear and got all excited, but it was only Sammy, Trix’s black kitty cat.

I think we finally hit our beds by about mid-night with a plan of being back on the paddle and trail by 7:00 a.m.
